Black Cobra - 1987 (Fred Williamson is the man!)

Black Cobra (1987) (Italian: Cobra Nero)
Dir: Stelvio Massi

This movie is so bad it is awesome.
First, FRED WILLIAMSON IS THE MAN!
No, seriously, he is cool in a way that most cool people will never understand.
He is a man of few words. The ones that he uses are seriously dangerous That makes him even cooler is that his body language in some scenes betray that he is a man of emotions as well as a GOD OF JUSTICE. Mr. Williamson is still acting and making even greater, tougher role models for American males.
Sorry, okay, I think he is awesome.
Anyway, the movie... well, it's crap. When you watch it you will be stunned to find out that it was filmed in 1987. The film quality is so bad, it looks like it was filmed on Super 8 (anybody, remember what that is?). The only thing that gives it away is that the idiot motorcycle gang all look like rejects from an early Michael Jackson video.
This movie was filmed in Italy. Everyone except for Mr. Williamson are Italian. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but this film is not exactly the work of Michelangelo. Remember this the year of "The Big Easy", "Moonstruck," and "Lethal Weapon."
Here is an example of how stupid the bad guys are: The gang leader breaks into this woman's house with muddy shoes and leaves a trail straight to the room that he's hiding in.
Oh, and as a motorcycle gang... they're all on little Japanese dirt bikes.
So how come I rate this movie so high... FRED WILLIAMSON IS THE MAN!
According to what I can find out, he was almost 50 when he made this movie and still he moves around more than most actors. He is smooth and cool. His character is a dangerous rebel. Honestly, this movie is only a couple of well placed jokes away from Williamson's character being out of one of the other great movies of 1987, "Lethal Weapon."
This movie put out by Digiview and I bought it at Walmart. It comes on a 2 movie disc with Black Cobra 2, which I will review tomorrow.
'Til then have a good day and a great movie.
