Black Cobra 2 - 1988 5.5 out of 10
Dir: Dan Edwards

Once again, FRED WILLIAMSON IS THE MAN!
The movie opens with a fairly decent chase scene through a parking garage in Chicago, followed by a long street chase. The movie is tied to the original by the fact that the guy being chased started on a motorcycle.
Fred reprises his role as Bob Malone, only this time there is a bit more to the character. During the opening chase scene, you see Malone stop and hold his hamstring. When he spots the bad guy down the road, he says, "Damn" and gets back to chasing him. Of course the rest of Chicago's finest shows up just as Malone captures the guy single-handedly. The only because FRED WILLIAMSON is so much cooler than any of the rest of them.
Of course, when he gets back to the station, he gets chewed out by his boss about being a rogue and is told that he is going to be reassigned. He is being sent to Manila, Philipines to work with Interpol. I don't think that that is standard operating procedure for dealing with a rogue cop, but this is FRED WILLIAMSON!
As far as this film goes, the actual production is light years better than the first one. The script is better than the first, but it's still not "Citizen Kane." There a few subplots, most of them poorly fleshed out, but at least there are there.
This movie was actually filmed in the Philipines and Chicago, so the settings are actually believable.
As for FRED, he is still a bad-ass. It is actually cool to see him show a bit of age.
There appears to be some confusion about who the director is. IMDB has it listed as the same director as the first film. A listing on Amazon has it as Emma Hoagland, who is the leading lady of the movie. My version says Dan Edwards, so that's what I am going with.
This is the other half of the Digiview disc from yesterday's posting and I got it at Walmart. I found a couple more from THE MAN that I will be reviewing soon.
