Dirty Harry

Believe it or not I'd never seen this until this weekend. It was just one of those movies I'd always planned on watching but never got around to it.
It was fantastic, everything I expected. Not so much an action movie, or even a police chase movie as an hour and a half of Clint Eastwood just being the manliest man of all time. Just busting around messing people up and telling people to get out of his way. Hanging out on top of bridges waiting to jump onto buses.
Just the way Eastwood hold's a gun is beyond anything you see thse days. No action hero is as natural with a deadly weapon as Eastwood, not even Arnie was a comfortable with a death stick as Clint seemed to be.
I guess that what you get after a lifetime of playing crazy anti-heroes who don't take no crap from nobody.
I've also got The Deer Hunter lying around to watch next. Another classic movie from the same family of 'I'll watch it another time'.

This is one of my favourite cop films alongside Serpico, French Connction, Bullit, Narc and To Live and Die in LA.
Fantastic construction, love the camera work, Clint's hard character and the Lalo Schiffrin score.
Don Siegel Directed another great cop film with Madigan starring Richard Widmark too.

I've heard heaps of people on board the Magnum Force and Sudden Impact agenda, but I personally can't go past the original.
