Well, not 100%, but it's the thought that counts right?
With all the hype from Heath Ledger’s death recently, The Dark Knight has received some major publicity. And from what I’ve seen rightfully so. Both the movie and Ledger look amazing, but I’ve known since I saw Batman Begins that this movie would be excellent. The grittiness and realism of it blew pretty every other Superhero movie out of the water. And the Batman series was one of the few comic franchises that could have done realism well. There is no way that Superman, X-Men or Spiderman could pull of the dark, brooding nature the Begins had.
Sure at it’s roots it was still a movie about a superhero, which is highly ridiculous, but it did grit and fear like no other. And as much as the Burton film’s are revered Batman Begins blew them out o the water. And I have no reason to see why The Dark Knight won’t do the same. The same awesome directing, the same Batman, plus Heath Ledger as a psychotic Joker, and Aaron Eckhart (who was awesome in Thank You For Smoking) as Two Face, it all leads me to believe that The Dark Knight was going to blow my mind.
Plus have you seen The Dark Knight’s previews? The blatant crazy that Ledger just exudes? I mean I’ve seen crazy before:
But just check this, I mean its just pure insanity:
Plus, like I mentioned before Aaron Eckhart rocks incredibly hard. Like 11 hards. Thank You for Smoking wouldn’t have been half the movie it was without him.
And Christian Bale is an awesome Batman, whoever cast George Clooney should have been shot, but Bale was a stroke of Einstienian level genius.
If The Dark Knight turn’s out as good as I’ve been hoping ever since Begins then it will be a fitting tribute to Ledger, who as so many others have said before passed just when he was hitting his prime.
p.s - That guy I put a picture up of before is Dale Purinton, an Ice Hockey player for the Colorado Avalanche and legitimately appears crazy, check out these handily compiled list of suspensions on Wikipedia
p.p.s - I very nearly put in a tirade here about how much better Batman is as a character than other useless superheroes. But I may leave that for another post.
