Watchmen Trailer

It's about a week old now, so I assume that someone more dilligent than I has already posted about this but the trailer for the new Watchmen movie has been released. Wow. I've been saying in the past I'm a bit anxious about the movie, specifically the direction of Zack Snyder, I just don't know if he has proved be can do as complex a story as Watchmen. I mean as kick arse as it was 300 wasn't exactly a story telling tour de force was it? And when as excellent of a director as Terry Gilliam bails on the project calling it 'unfilmable' then it begins to raise questions as to exactly how Snyder can do this justice.
Don't get me wrong though, I know Snyder loves comics, and loves Watchmen. That he would never want to make a bad film about it, but I'm just not sure he can do it. But this trailer has almost made a believer out of me.
It's incredible. I mean maybe Snyder hasn't proven story, but he's proven style. No one can do comic to film as authentically as him, purely from an asthetic viewpoint. There was a lot of talk about how 300 was filmed entirely on a green screen in order to get the visuals. Not Watchmen, sets galore. And it looks amazing. The same garish purples and greens of the comics. Incredibly accurate stuff.
It also got me thinking, is this the first (recent) superhero movie involving a large group of heroes? There have been 'buddy' films in the past (ala Batman and Robin) but I can't think of one with this many superheroes. Nor one with as ambiguous characters. I mean Rorschach was nigh on a Nazi. Dr Manhattan was an unfeeling omnipresent psuedo-god. The Comedian was a murdering bastard. Not exactly Peter Parker heroics.
I'm excited again. This thing can hopefully be pulled off. It's an epic story, with some of the greatest characters I can think of. Come on Snyder prove me wrong. There is nothing I would like better!
